Hi fellow train simmers,

Today, I want to proudly announced that the Rattlesnake Desert version 1.1 has been released to the Train-sim library and is now available for download.

The Rattlesnake Desert (RSD) route is a fictional 36 mile desert route of double main line trackage through a mountain desert range. There are 4 towns on the route and one industry area. If you like mainline running with perhaps a couple places here and there for some route switching, this route is ideal. All night textures are included. The route is for summer running only, as this is a fictional desert environment. Please note that this is a highly detailed route. So this is not a route for anyone! MSTS fans with older hardware might not be able to run this route due to its immense hardware requirements. You also need Xtracks 3.18 or better and newroads 3.2 to run this route. The route has a very easy installation process. Please see README for further info.

The Rattlesnake Desert (RSD) route also comes with its own custom rolling stock. It comes with 7 locomotives and some new trailers and double stacks for your enjoyment. I want to personally thank Nick Sese and Dennis Jones for their work that they put into the custom rolling stock for this route. Tom and I appreciate the great work you guys have done. I also want to announce that there is a paint scheme guide for the Rattlesnake Railway scheme for those who are interested in doing repaints.

The Rattlesnake Desert (RSD) route was about a 10 month project that was started back in late 2006 by Tom Galbardi and I. At the start of the project, We didnt know how the route would turn out, But at the end of the project. We were pleased at what we had and what we accomplished in the project. Of course, Tom and I know that we could have added some extra things to the route, But not every route is perfect. There was still some things that we wanted to do with the route, But after the 10 months. The project was just time consuming for the both of us and started taking a toll on the both of us.

For those who were able to get their hands on version 1 of the Rattlesnake Desert route which was a limited release via the Badlands forum. Before you install version 1.1, You will need to delete the first version and then install version 1.1. of the route into your route folder.

For those who are interested in knowing whats new in this version of the route. It is as follows:

- Vegetation upgrade with new and better desert plants
- Minor scenery additions
- Night texture fixes
- New high quality track textures
- Environment updates (Updated "Badlands Summer Clear" environment)
- Static consists as scenery objects (US2 refrigerator)
- Speed post updates (average speed has increased from 30mph to 40mph)
- Other minor fixes and updates
- Optional cam config file for a better RSD experience
- Alternate track textures which are the track textures from version 1

I want to thank all the people who have helped Tom and I out on this project on some shape or form. We also want to thank our beta testers for doing a great job and we want to thank all the people who have created some nice freeware add-ons. If it wasnt for those people. This route and others would not be possible and we appreciate that and their hard work. We also want to thank Nels for letting us host our route file on the file library over at Train-sim and making this route available to everyone in the train sim community who wants to download the route and enjoy it. I also want to thank Otto for helping me out with the upload of the file to the Train-sim library.

Last, But not least. I want to give a special thanks to my fiancee who has been a very caring and understanding woman to me over the last 3 years. It has been a little rough period for me concerning some health issues that Ive had to deal with. If it wasnt for her, I am not sure where I would be today and I thank her for that. That is why the RSD route is dedicated to her. She will always have a special place in my heart. 398 days until Im a married man. Oh boy, Im in trouble once that day comes. lmao.....

This will be the final version made available for this route as Tom and I have agreed that we dont want to spend anymore time working on this project in the future. We both hope that everyone in the community will enjoy this route and keep highballing the trains.

Sincerely,
Randy Dyer (Eaglefan9727)
Tom Galbardi (Mr Badlands)

I already have Xtracks and Newroads installed for the Clinton Sub route, they are copied and pasted in the Train Simulato/GLOBAl folder, does the RSD just pick up the files or do I have to do another install of the Xtracks and Newroads?

In order to run this route you need XTRACKS Ver. 3.18  + NEWROADS 3.2.  ;)

Hope this helps!

Yeah, It works and every time I close out of MSTS, It has a Send/ Do not Send error. But its a great route, Ive ran it alot! Is there any other towns on the route other than the town provided in the To and From list in MSTS?

Hhmmm... That sounds strange with that error. No idea what the problem could be to be honest with you. Never heard of that issue before. Does this happen while you're playing the small activity that comes with the route?

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Yeah, there are 4 town included in the route. Sandonia City, EspaƱola, Desert Springs and Berkley. There is also a small industry area along the route.
